Chronic pain is non-cancer pain that doesn’t go away after at least three months. There are different kinds of pain and many different treatments for chronic pain.
Your doctor or nurse practitioner will refer you to the Chronic Pain Program. Using valid assessment tools, a Registered Nurse will evaluate the effectiveness of your pain management. At your appointment with the RN, there will be a medication review, a discussion regarding possible interventions and referrals as indicated. Working together with the nurse, you will develop a plan to help you manage your chronic pain condition.
The RN is not able to prescribe or offer medications of any kind. Your doctor will prescribe all medications.
